About us
The Teacher Leadership Project (TLP) was developed in 1997, and through a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 has trained over 3500 teachers in Washington and Mississippi in using technology as a tool to enhance instruction.

As part of the Microsoft Partners in Learning Mid-Tier Program, TLP has expanded to train over 250 additional teachers throughout the United States.

The hybrid training model, which incorporates both face-to-face and online learning, offers professional development in curriculum-based, technology integration that:

  • Is designed by teachers for teachers
  • Targets state standards
  • Moves teachers from focusing on computer skills to focusing on using technology to support learning
  • Infuses technology integration into the curriculum based on state learning targets.
  • Incorporates the Understanding by Design curriculum framework into the technology training model
  • Encourages and supports teacher leaders
